This blew my mind!!

After a busy day at work, I started my journey home. Once I was in my car, I turned on the Sinatra channel on Sirius XM. The mellifluous sounds of the music got me in the groove, and the music embellished my driving experience. This was it! Such an Elysian moment. I took this flawless moment to admire the breathtaking views of Lake Placid - a bucolic and idyllic town in upstate New York.  

On the contrary, my experience was ephemeral. The reason - this traffic sign.


You might be wondering what happened. Earlier this morning, I was explicating the geometrical concept of Lines in Geometry class. And now I encounter this traffic sign!

Just to help you understand better, let’s look at this website Math Is Fun. This may help you understand the definition of a Line. 

The Line 
  •     Is straight 
  •     Has no thickness
  •     Extends indefinitely in both directions.
Mathematicians represent the Line with arrows on either end. 
Wait! So, the Department of Transportation just used a Geometric Symbol to define a Traffic Sign. Wow!!

Attempting to expound and connect the application of Lines in real life exhausted my brain. I was done with all the mental cerebration. This process made me lethargic and soporific.

The next morning, I headed back to work. On my ride, I approached the same sign and I smiled. 

I went to class, taught my students, completed my mundane chores, and headed back home.

Don’t get surprised, but this is what I saw on my return journey home!


And then later on my walk after dinner!

I was completely flummoxed after seeing these Traffic Signs. Can you please state 2 characteristics of the Traffic Sign or Geometric Symbol in the two images above.

While you are explicating each Traffic Sign/Geometric Symbol, can you expound on this image too!




What is this image showing? Is it a Line, Line Segment, or a Ray? In addition, can you state the geometrical properties/attributes?

After seeing the analogous similarities between Traffic Signs and Geometric Symbols, I can say in my denouement that the Department of Transportation has an agenda to make Geometric Symbols all-pervasive and ubiquitous.

Every individual and person has a perspective. From my view, you would be the reader, and from your perspective, I would be the blogger of this post. These ideas of perspectives that may occur in one variable vs. the other are where we express or make the subject.
